Project Info:

The historic landmark Escambia County Court of Record Building, which had been vacant since 1980, was conceived to become the center for the performing arts in the Pensacola area. The 42,000 square foot project was completed in three phases. The first phase (1990) included exterior restoration, the second phase (1992) consisted of the north side interior renovation, and the third phase (1995) was the new 580 seat theater which reclaimed the old jail cell wing, a 60 foot high concrete cavern, on the building’s southern side. The building now provides performance, rehearsal, set design, dressing room, dance studio space, offices and meeting spaces for art groups, and a three-story central atrium which is used as the theater lobby.
