Project Info:

The interior function of the new 9,000 volume Library/Media center includes an integrated system of combining new technology with computer and video graphics with the typical book stacks. Computer stations are dispersed throughout the two-story space and indirect north lighting is highlighted with specific task light placement. The dramatic interior promotes the use of the library as a gathering, meeting and academic heart of the school. The acoustically controlled space features carpeted floors, painted wallboard with oak trim, curved pine beams, and a sound absorbing roof deck. The mezzanine is supported by painted steel columns and a horizontal railing system. This project was award the Silver Citation by American Schools and Universities magazine for excellence in architecture.
